A Brief Summary of This Position: This individual contributor role is responsible for the general accounting and reporting for a Valmont operations site. This position will work closely with the site controller and operations team to ensure appropriate accounting for transactions including sales, cost of sales, and expenses and reporting of such results to management. This includes posting of general ledger transactions, and preparation of account reconciliations responsible for the month-end closing process. Additional responsibilities include assisting with forecasting, supporting and monitoring internal controls, general ledger account analysis, and interpretation of operating statistics along with shared functions within the accounting team.
This is an on-site professional exemption salaried position.- The starting pay range for this position is $76,800 to $95,900 depending on experience and education.- Eligible for annual discretionary bonusEssential Functions: - This position reports into the site controller, and has no direct reports
- This role requires up to 5% travel, including overnight stays
- Complete month-end balance sheet reconciliations and related activities
- Prepare intercompany reconciliations
- Record journal entries on the general ledger
- Determine appropriate accounting for vendor invoices and provide coding to Shared Services
- Prepare monthly financial reports, business activity reports (Scorecards), and/or reports required by regulatory agencies
- Upload monthly financials and review reporting for accuracy and compliance with US GAAP
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as requested
- Assist with preparation of the monthly forecasting of business results to the business
- Provide audit support
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and current accounting standards
- Maintain appropriate professional competencies and overall competencies of your functional area of oversight as well as understand and actively practice adherence to the company's core values
- Work with Controllership, operations, Business Partner, and Corporate Audit to develop and/or maintain system of internal controls
Required Qualifications for Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): - Preferred Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant experience or associate's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience or 9+ years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of general ledger accounting experience including account reconciliations, journal entries, and a basic understanding of internal controls
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Working knowledge of user functionality and reporting using ERP systems
- Strong analytical, thinking and reasoning skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail and goal orientation with accountability measures
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and take action to solve problems
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and under high pressure
- Adaptability to change in this dynamic services business market
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in accounting and finance
- Certified Public Accountant
- Experience with IFS- ERP systems
Working Environment and Physical Efforts: Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in person conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. 10% travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move throughout the offices. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
