Overview:
Quinnipiac University invites applications for a Senior Academic Financial Analyst. this position reports to the Executive Director of Academic Finance and is responsible for organizing and executing the functions associated with the planning and management of the financial resources across the Academic Division, including the development, implementation, and management of the systems for budgeting, accounting, reporting, and distributing this information.

The Senior Academic Financial Analyst is a vital member of the Academic Financial Operations team and provides financial guidance to the schools while working collaboratively with a variety of school and university stakeholders to achieve the overall goals and objectives. This person serves as a liaison between the schools and the corresponding administrative, personnel and financial offices and staff within the University.

The successful candidate is a collaborative, analytical, and solutions-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic higher education environment, builds strong cross-functional relationships, and enjoys translating financial data into meaningful insights that support academic excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of academic operating and capital budgets in alignment with the University's annual budgeting process
  • Partner with academic schools and departments to identify, model, implement, and monitor resource requirements for new and existing programs
  • Prepare and deliver clear, actionable financial reports and analyses to support decision-making for schools and academic programs
  • Analyze financial data to identify risks, trends, and investment opportunities, and provide meaningful, data-driven recommendations to stakeholders
  • Assist schools and programs with financial transactions including labor distribution, budget adjustments, and cost transfers, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support strategic planning and program sustainability
  • Evaluate existing processes and proactively identify opportunities for improved efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness; recommend and support implementation of enhancements
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Finance and Academic Budgets


Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree - Field of study: Accounting or Finance


Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in using financial software and tools such as Excel, financial databases, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations based on quantitative analysis
  • Capacity to interpret complex financial information and distill it into actionable insights for various stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues, administrators, and decision-makers
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborate with various departments, and liaise with faculty and administrators to understand their financial needs and provide appropriate support.
