Job Description:

The Production Engineer is responsible for defining, developing, implementing, and continuously improving factory operational strategies, standards, business processes, and systems that enable consistent, high-velocity output in a low-volume, high-product-mix semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role drives factory operational excellence through the application of manufacturing science, factory physics, and data-driven decision-making to optimize Work-in-Process (WIP), cycle time, output, and overall manufacturing performance.

As a key strategic partner to Captain of Ship (COS) and Remote Operations Center (ROC) Group Leaders, the Production Engineer helps develop and execute operational strategies that support both technology development and high-volume manufacturing objectives. This individual identifies systemic constraints, evaluates alternative operating models, and develops scalable solutions that improve factory agility, efficiency, and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and deploy factory-wide operational strategies, standards, business processes, and systems that improve output, cycle time, WIP health, and manufacturing velocity.
  • Serve as a key integrator across Production, Planning, Automation, Process Engineering, Integration, Industrial Engineering (IE), and other factory organizations to drive alignment and execution.
  • Identify and address systemic manufacturing constraints through the application of factory physics, Theory of Constraints, Lean principles, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives that improve factory performance, operational efficiency, resource utilization, and manufacturing capability.
  • Own the strategic roadmap, governance, and continuous improvement of critical operational business systems, ensuring alignment with site and Virtual Factory (VF) objectives.
  • Develop and implement data-driven solutions, reporting frameworks, and decision-support tools that enhance operational visibility and enable proactive factory management.
  • Drive adoption of Best Known Methods (BKMs), operational standards, and continuous improvement initiatives across the factory and Virtual Factory network.
  • Represent F11X Production in Virtual Factory councils, improvement teams, and strategic forums, influencing the development and implementation of network-wide operational capabilities.
  • Influence operational priorities and business decisions through data-driven recommendations and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and factory stakeholders, strengthening organizational capability and operational excellence.
  • Lead complex problem-solving efforts involving multiple organizations, competing priorities, and significant business impact.

Desired Skills and Behavioral Traits

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Deep expertise in manufacturing science, factory physics, operational excellence methodologies, and production flow management.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and drive alignment across organizations without direct reporting authority.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate business objectives into executable operational plans.
  • Demonstrated success solving complex and ambiguous operational challenges through structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Model-Based Problem Solving (MBPS), Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and systemic constraints through data analysis.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and leadership teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, negotiation, and influencing skills in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • A proven track record of leading transformational improvements and delivering measurable business impact across organizations and shifts.
  • The ability to quickly learn, integrate, and optimize complex manufacturing technologies and business systems.
