Summary

You will serve as a Communications Security (COMSEC) Local Element Manager in the Communications System Coordination Center (NCCC) of the MARITIME OPERATIONS CENTER.

Duties

Help

  • You will prepare and distribute monthly security forms, update safe combinations, and keep response sheets for the Intrusion Detection System up to date.
  • You will be responsible for lifecycle management, operations, and strict documentation of cryptographic material for the COMPACFLT MOC.
  • You will oversee and document proper destruction of outdated and unnecessary material.
  • You will monitor deployment cycles to ensure the necessary equipment and hardware are supplied to deploying forces.
  • You will advise teams on Communications Security, Electronic Keying Material Systems, and Key Management Infrastructure as they prepare for exercises and operations.
  • You will help prepare and disseminate quarterly COMSEC status messages.
  • You will order and take receipt of new materials and issue them to users.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code COMSEC Manager, proficiency level INTERMEDIATE the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • You will participate in continuous professional development programs as described in DoD 8140.03. An annual 20-hour minimum of Cyber Workforce related continuous professional development is required.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing strict deadlines and maintaining high-fidelity accountability records, inventories, or audit logs; implementing physical security controls to safeguard sensitive information systems and hardware; and tracking, auditing, and managing the lifecycle of information system assets within secure or classified operational environments.

Additional information

This position is subject to working an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Pay retention may be granted when certain conditions are met.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
