AWS Data Center Security is seeking a highly talented and motivated Security Program Manager to join our team. AWS is the leading cloud provider, providing virtualized infrastructure, storage, networking, messaging, and many other services to customers all over the world. The candidate will have the ability manage complex security initiatives, delivering critical solutions, while implementing significant improvements, new mechanisms, or deprecating processes that are no longer needed. The role is responsible for the design, installation and full lifecycle of physical security systems, including Access Control/Intrusion Detection and CCTV Surveillance systems as well as overall security policy and program management. These efforts require working with multiple teams in and/or across organizations.
You will be accountable for the overall strategy of multiple large security programs and will successfully manage all stages (from concept to delivery) to meet challenging business goals and/or shows measurable improvements in customer experience, business or employee efficiency or execution, compliance adherence, financial or other metrics, etc.
You will also be responsible for the continuous review of existing security standards and to stay abreast of new industry developments that will enhance the physical security footing of AWS data centers and collocations to find opportunities to raise the security bar and drive down costs. You will work directly with the Cluster Security Managers, Regional Security Managers, Data Center Security Managers, the Operations Team and other customers, both internal and external, to integrate business requirements into physical security system design and implementation. Your work will include supporting the design and deployment of physical security packages and security program enhancements for AWS data centers in your assigned portfolio.
The ideal candidate for the role will be willing and able to work across multiple disciplines, at all levels; from physical security system design and layout, construction and implementation as well as oversee system maintenance and upgrades over the life of multiple projects. You will have an in depth knowledge of security technology, be innovative, highly organized and know how to deliver results on time and on budget. The role may involve travel and your ability to work autonomously is essential. You are able to solve ambiguous problems, proactively identify existing or imminent security vulnerabilities, and apply mitigation strategies to reduce overall risk. You must understand and effectively apply program-management and project-management best practices. You may be asked to use your knowledge to assess processes, program plans, and operations requirements. You work with teams to improve concurrent project delivery. You streamline and/or eliminate excess process. You influence teams to decouple from dependencies and eliminate problems that stifle innovation or cause user dissatisfaction.
Key job responsibilities
Manage a team of SPMs at regional or multi-cluster level. Your team owns a large portion of security system architecture with considerable impact across clusters, regions and/or geographies. You are able to represent your team autonomously and require minimal guidance from your management. You evangelize our Leadership Principles. As the manager, you are accountable for the structure and strategic direction of your team. You determine the right mix of SPMs, recommend opening new requisitions to meet business needs, and actively participate in the hiring process. You proactively mentor and coach your team improving their skills and ability to get things done. You provide constructive managerial feedback and promotion assessments leveraging available people management tools.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of process improvement procedure creation experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in infrastructure security.
- 5+ years of physical security experience in data centers infrastructure deployment, logistics, manufacturing, or similar environments. Must include access control, video surveillance/VMS, intrusion detection and defense-in-depth strategies.
- 5+ years of physical security project and vendor management experience.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance/management systems.
- PSP, CPP, or PMP certification.
- Basic networking infrastructure knowledge and topology
- Experience managing multiple large-scale, complex projects with competing timelines.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
