Job Summary:
The Security Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and daily operations of the Gaming Security department, ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of guests, team members, and company assets.
This role leads through a balanced approach of operational oversight, team development, and culture-building, ensuring consistent delivery of safety and service standards across the property. The Security Manager partners closely with leaders across departments and external agencies to maintain compliance, mitigate risk, and create a secure, service-focused environment.
A key responsibility of this role is to develop leaders, reinforce expectations, and embed Harrah's Northern California values into daily operations, ensuring every interaction reflects our commitment to exceptional guest service and safety.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of Security, Law Enforcement, or Investigations experience required
- Minimum of two (2) years of leadership or management experience
- Knowledge of California Gaming regulations and applicable laws preferred
- Valid California Driver's License with:
- No suspensions
- No DUI convictions
- No more than two moving violations within the past three years
- Strong understanding of risk management, safety practices, and incident investigation
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including coaching, development, and performance management
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external partners (law enforcement, regulatory agencies)
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to think strategically while maintaining operational effectiveness
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred

Essential Job Functions: - Provide overall leadership and direction for the Security department, ensuring alignment with company standards and objectives
- Oversee day-to-day security operations, ensuring consistent coverage, readiness, and response capability
- Lead, coach, and develop Supervisors, Dual Rate leaders, and Guest Safety Officers to build a high-performing team
- Establish clear expectations and maintain accountability for safety, service, and performance standards
- Oversee incident response, investigations, and documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution
- Partner with internal departments to ensure coordinated support of property operations and guest experience
- Maintain strong relationships with external agencies, including local law enforcement and regulatory bodies
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and safety programs
- Oversee risk management processes, including guest incidents, employee accidents, and general liability coordination
- Prepare, manage, and monitor departmental budgets, forecasts, and operational reports
- Lead recruitment, hiring, performance management, and disciplinary processes for the department
- Support training initiatives by ensuring leaders are equipped to onboard, coach, and develop team members
- Promote consistent communication through meetings, BUZZ sessions, and leadership engagement
Physical, Mental & Environmental Demands: - Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures (10°F to 115°F)
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds; push/pull up to 150 pounds
- Ability to physically restrain individuals when necessary
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency or high-stress situations
- Ability to work in environments with smoke, noise, bright lights, and dust
- Must be able to stoop, bend, jump, twist, crouch, grip, carry heavy loads, and maneuver quickly on level surfaces, as well as up and down stairs.
- Responds to visual and aural cues.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
