Key Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership:
- Lead by example by complying with, and enforcing, all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies within the shipyard
- Project Execution:
- Lead the development of cost proposals for new Navy contracts and changes to existing work
- Manage internal data and reporting requirements
- Estimating Management:
- Manage a staff of 8-12 Estimating Analysts
- Compose and edit Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
- Training and Development:
- Develop processes, financial models, and databases
- Develop Estimating Analysts into future leaders
- Team Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate with other departments in order to support emergent customer needs
- Continuous Improvement:
- Update and negotiate labor and material cost standards to keep estimates current
Required/Preferred Education/Training
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or other Technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience with demonstrated experience working in an analytical capacity required.
- Manufacturing experience is desired, MBA preferred.
Required/Preferred Experience
- 10 years’ experience in a technical field, business (Accounting or Finance), or manufacturing/ shipbuilding field.
- Previous experience estimating costs for Government contracts preferred.
- Demonstrated sound leadership and personnel management skills.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent planning, organization and project management skills.
- Possess strong written and oral communications skills.
- Strong understanding of financial issues required.
- Good understanding of contractual issues required.
- Excellent PC skills required, database management experience is desired.
- Be able to work in a professional office environment and visit the production environment.
- Demonstrated management, project coordination and leadership skills required. Strong written, oral communications and organizational skills required.
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office products required.
- Ability and willingness to work in and promote a true team environment.
