Scientist -Analytical Chemistry & Media Characterization will be responsible for leading projects focused on the development, validation, and execution of analytical methods supporting the chemical, structural, and performance characterization of filtration media and integrated filtration, purification, and separation devices or systems for microelectronics, Food & Beverage, and energy+ applications.
This role will focus on analytical methods for trace-level detection of metals and organics at ppb and ppt levels, as well as media characterization, including chemistry, structure, surface properties, porosity, and related material-performance and cleanliness attributes.
The Scientist is expected to work independently within established processes, follow best laboratory safety practices, and provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary projects.
This position reports to the Director of the Materials and Products Characterization (MPC) group within the R&D organization. This is an on-site role located in Port Washington, New York, USA.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Develop, validate, refine, and execute SOPs and analytical methods for chemical, structural, and physical characterization of components, filtration media, and finished filtration, purification, and separation devices.
- Perform trace-level chemical analysis for metals, extractables, leachables, organics, and other critical contaminants at ppb and ppt levels.
- Characterize filtration media properties, including chemistry, morphology, porosity, surface area, surface energy, thermal behavior, viscoelastic properties, and associated performance attributes.
- Document experiments, data analysis, conclusions, and recommendations in laboratory notebooks, technical reports, and project summaries while upholding all safety, quality, and laboratory compliance requirements.
- Coordinating laboratory activities, including test planning, scheduling, method readiness, preventive maintenance, and vendor interactions.
The essential requirements of the job include:- B.S., or M.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific or engineering discipline, with 3+ years of hands-on analytical laboratory experience or Ph.D. with an equivalent relevant academic experience.
