Under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Operations, the School Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the Silver Lake Regional School District and Superintendency Union #31.
The School Accountant executes the following functions:
- Oversees the district general ledger and reconciliation of accounting systems.
- Creates monthly financial statements and budget projections.
- Reviews and prepares vendor and payroll warrants for school committee approval.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of accounts payable.
- Reconciles balances for all School Department accounts, including expenditures, encumbrances and any special articles.
- Assists with the preparation, presentation, monitoring, and reporting of the annual school department operating and capital budgets.
- Develops and implements a district-wide system for managing grants: establishing budgets, creating expenditure reports, handling requests for receipt of grant funds, and filing required financial reports (i.e., final expenditure and end-of-year reports).
- Provides training to school department staff on the use of municipal accounting/financial systems and software.
- Assists independent auditors with information and documentation required for annual audit functions.
- Executes other tasks, as assigned by the Director of Finance and Operations.
An ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
This is a full year, benefits eligible role. The salary range is between $80,000 - $87,000 and commensurate with experience and education.
