Job Description SummaryAs a lead SCADA/HMI engineer, you have the ability to lead and support the work of other engineers through verbal and written instructions, reviews, and approval processes. You will be responsible for preparation, engineering and validation of SCADA/HMI and communication systems, preparing specifications and configurations for our products and solutions. You are a seasoned expert, however more than exact years of experience, we expect you to be a self-starter with high level of flexibility, resilience, and self-learning attitude.
Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities
- System Design and Architecture: Create and refine the architecture for SCADA systems tailored to STATCOM projects. Additionally, develop user-friendly HMIs for real-time monitoring and control of STATCOM systems and select and design appropriate communication protocols (e.g., MODBUS, DNP3, IEC 61850) for data exchange.
- Implementation and Integration: Oversee the installation and commissioning of SCADA/HMI systems in STATCOM projects and ensure seamless integration of SCADA systems with existing infrastructure and other control systems. Conduct rigorous testing (functional and performance testing) to validate system reliability and performance.
- Lead and review the design, specifications and team deliverables.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to SCADA, HMI, and communication systems promptly.
- Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades to enhance functionality and security.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of SCADA/HMI systems.
- Ensure that all systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., NERC CIP, IEC 62351).
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to innovate and enhance system capabilities.
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in system design from energy, industrial or utility projects.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with design engineering tools e.g. Aveva Plant SCADA, Eaton SMP gateway, Zenon software platform etc.
Eligibility Requirements
- Relocation to Saratoga Springs, NY is required.
- Ability and Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
Desired Characteristics
- Familiar with network traffic debugging tools. e.g: Wireshark.
- Familiar with testing/simulator tools. e.g. IEDScout, TMW Test Harness.
- Experience in electrical design of substation secondary systems is a benefit.
- Knowing electro-technical standards is a benefit.
- Fluent written and oral skills in English; other languages are benefit.
- Team player with hands-on attitude.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
