This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a SCADA Design & Commissioning Engineer (Renewables) for our Boulder, CO office. The following location will also be considered: Irvine, CA and Houston, TX. Be involved in projects with our Energy Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Provide SCADA expertise on wind, battery, solar power systems, microgrid projects during the preliminary and final design and commissioning phases of each project.
  • Design standard SCADA systems that include: SCADA and HMI cabinet, SCADA architecture drawings, fiber optic one-line drawings, patch panel details, points lists, substation communication panel, O&M communication panel and overall communication plan.
  • Generate contract documents that clearly define the scope of work and responsibility matrix for all SCADA cabinet manufacturers/suppliers, SCADA equipment installers, communication/fiber/T1 providers, and Utility/QSE
  • Provide onsite commissioning and troubleshooting support for utility-scale solar, BESS, wind, and microgrid projects, including managing operational testing, validating Energy Management System (EMS) integration, and resolving SCADA communication and control issues.
  • Quality assurance of SCADA cabinets during production and installation phases
  • Program substation RTAC and HMI units plus network security hardware using standard SCADA protocols such as Modbus or DNP3 protocol
  • Troubleshoot power plant control and communication problems during commissioning. Work will be done both remotely and onsite as needed.
  • Support Substation P&C relay programming/troubleshooting
  • Manage consultants and subcontractors for SCADA phone calls, deliverables, testing, bill of materials, budgets, and system completion
  • Work closely with the client's team, including the project manager, construction manager, electrical manager, and project engineer to guarantee a quality system is installed and tested to client specifications
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.


Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum 2-3 years of proven utility or industrial experience that includes a proven track record of working on large capital-industrial projects with a focus on SCADA tasks.
  • Need expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the client and will be instrumental in delivering on time, cost effective projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with development, construction and operations clients to ensure that project delivery and quality are met.
  • Skilled in MSOffice and Outlook.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $80,000 - $125,400

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $68,800 - $124,100
