The RF Microelectronics, Module Design, and Foundry Services Department (RFMicro) develops, designs, and manufactures acoustic and compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications. There is an exciting opportunity in the department for a SAW Process Engineering Technician to join the crystal fabrication team supporting the product and process integration of the Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) product line.

As a member of the RFM Department, the individual in this role will be responsible for the fabrication processes, process development, and device yield of the SAW crystal foundry. The engineering technician will work across multiple functions, including quality, operations, and engineering to ensure product quality, yield, and cost is maintained. Presence on the manufacturing floor is required for quick resolution of issues and quick reaction time to prevent interruption of customer commitments.

The ideal candidate for this role would have a basic understanding of SAW devices, experience in acoustic device fabrication and test, and a broad understanding of microelectronic manufacturing techniques such as deposition, etch, photolithography, or device packaging. The candidate should possess a drive to learn and improve the areas where they work and a proven ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail. The ability to maintain organized and work well in small cross-functional teams is essential to success.

This 1st shift role will be 100% on-site and based in Andover, MA.

What You Will Do:
  • Support the day-to-day manufacturing of surface acoustic wave devices, including semiconductor processing and device testing, training, and documentation.
  • Maintain and update area processes and procedures, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and source control documents (SCDs) for the manufacturing process.
  • Perform troubleshooting of process excursions and test failures for timely resolution of issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in foundry, identifying and executing process improvement projects on a cross-functional team.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and quality to ensure compliant, on-budget, and timely device fabrication.
  • Actively communicate with parties within and outside of the work area (off-shift engineers, work center leads, operation leads, manufacturing personnel, equipment team, etc.)


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Less than two (2) years of relevant experience with acoustic device fabrication, test, and troubleshooting; such as lithography, dry etch, metal evaporation, bonding, laser trim, and dicing for device fabrication and functional testing, small signal measurements, temperature testing, and phase noise analysis for device test.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
