Position Overview

OMNI is seeking a Satellite Systems Software Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support for a high-visibility national security space program. The selected candidate will support Government oversight of software development, integration, testing, and operational activities associated with advanced satellite systems.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience supporting software engineering efforts for space or mission-critical systems, with a strong understanding of embedded software development, system integration, and software-hardware interactions. This individual will collaborate closely with Government, contractor, and SETA teams to support mission success throughout the system lifecycle.

This position is primarily located at a satellite development facility in Seal Beach, California and requires periodic travel to integration and test locations in California and New Mexico.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide systems engineering and technical support to Government stakeholders overseeing satellite software development and integration activities.
  • Conduct technical assessments of software architectures, designs, and engineering processes supporting embedded and mission-critical systems.
  • Review and analyze software development activities to ensure compliance with program requirements, engineering standards, and mission objectives.
  • Support the translation of mission needs and operational requirements into software and system-level technical requirements.
  • Evaluate embedded software architectures, interfaces, performance characteristics, and integration approaches.
  • Monitor software development progress and identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, maintainability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Participate in software integration, verification, validation, and test activities, including witnessing contractor-executed testing events.
  • Assess software and hardware integration activities and provide technical
  • recommendations to Government leadership.
  • Support engineering investigations related to satellite operations, anomalies, and mission events.
  • Provide technical analysis, risk assessments, and recommendations to support informed Government decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Government, contractor, and SETA personnel to identify, communicate, and resolve technical issues impacting program execution.
  • Prepare engineering assessments, technical briefings, status reports, and decision-support materials for program leadership.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, software development practices, tools, and frameworks relevant to national security space missions.
  • Support system lifecycle activities from development and integration through test, deployment, and operations.


  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Experience supporting Government or commercial space, aerospace, defense, or mission-critical software programs.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience designing, developing, integrating, or testing software for real-time or non-real-time systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in embedded software architectures, software integration, verification, validation, and test activities.
  • Understanding of software and hardware integration principles within complex engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics and the application of various orbital regimes to mission requirements.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues, develop practical solutions, and communicate recommendations effectively to Government stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to brief both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, and mission-focused environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC), Space Force, DoD, or other national security space programs.
  • Experience supporting Government Program Offices or SETA organizations.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft software, flight software, mission planning software, command and control systems, or satellite ground systems. Experience supporting spacecraft integration and test activities.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical assessments and recommendations to senior program and mission leadership.
  • Experience supporting satellite operations, anomaly resolution, or mission event investigations.
