Our Director of Human Resources:

  • Ensures success in all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, leaves of absence, compliance, employee relations, performance management, compensation, payroll, policy administration, and team member development.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor and coach to leaders and team members on employee relations, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Develops and delivers training programs, presentations, forms, and educational resources, including New Hire Orientation and Culture of Excellence training.
  • Participate in recruitment efforts, including workforce planning, sourcing strategies, candidate pipeline development, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
  • Administers pre-employment screening processes, background checks, reference verification, and regulatory hiring requirements.
  • Coordinates annual benefits enrollment and collaborate with corporate HR to ensure compliance with ACA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manages compensation and performance management programs, including annual reviews, salary analysis, wage administration, and merit increase processes.
  • Partners with regional and corporate HR leaders on organizational initiatives related to recruitment, retention, culture, engagement, leadership development, and workforce planning.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable California employment laws and regulations impacting team members.
  • Oversees onboarding programs and orientation for new team members.
  • Administers and oversees COBRA, leaves of absence, workers compensation, unemployment claims, and employment-related legal matters; partner with HQ and outside counsel as needed.

  • Leads special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive human resources leadership experience, in a fast-paced business environment, including experience supporting leaders and team members in a complex, service-oriented environment.
  • At least five years of experience in a HR management role with at least one direct report.
  • Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or another highly regulated service environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, leaves of absence, performance management, compliance, and HR policy administration.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment laws and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply policies consistently and appropriately.
  • Excellent employee relations, coaching, conflict resolution, and investigation skills.
  • Ability to build trust, influence leaders, and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency using Workday required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing environments.
  • Ability to anticipate and to think strategically and critically is required.
  • Ability to collaborate and to operate with a bias for action is required.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation practices, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, leadership presence with the ability to influence and collaborate with team members at all levels.
  • Outstanding proficiency in Microsoft suite, especially Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word; SharePoint experience preferred.
