KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice.
Responsibilities- Work as part of a national multi-disciplinary state income tax consulting team helping clients with their most complex state tax issues, including organizational structure optimization, identifying refund opportunities, developing and delivering technology solutions, and general consulting matters
- Lead state tax return review engagements focused on identifying and securing state income tax refunds
- Assist multi-national companies with state and local tax controversies which includes preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests
- Review technical memoranda or slide decks regarding income, franchise, and other state and local tax questions
- Build and manage client relationships; supervise, mentor, and develop managers and associates
Qualifications- Minimum eight years of recent experience leading state income tax return review projects, managing restructuring engagements and providing technical advice on multi-state income tax issues
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; CPA, EA or JD/LLM; in addition to others on KPMG's approved credential listing; any individual who does not possess at least one of the approved designations/credentials when their employment commences, has one year from their date of hire to obtain at least one of the approved designations/credentials; should you like to see the complete list of currently approved designations/credentials for the hiring practice/service line, your recruiter can provide you with that list
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams delivering state and local income tax consulting services
- Ability to develop business and foster relationships both internally as well as with clients
- Excellent writing, compliance, communication, management and tax research skills
- Capability and desire to perform in a high-energy team environment
