Job Description

Position Summary:

The Sales Manager is responsible for leading sales activities and managing customer relationships to support the growth and profitability of American Handforge. As a leading manufacturer of Aluminum, Titanium, Stainless Steel, and exotic alloy open-die forgings, the company serves a diverse customer base across highly regulated industries. The Sales Manager will develop new business opportunities, maintain strategic customer relationships, oversee contract negotiations, and ensure customer requirements are effectively communicated and supported throughout the organization. This role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to deliver exceptional customer service, quality products, competitive pricing, and industry-leading lead times.

  • Participates in daily line walks & other pertinent meetings and then acts on issues identified for Customer Service/Project Coordinator to address.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve company revenue and growth objectives.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the Aerospace, Defense, Industrial, Electronic, Semiconductor, and Nuclear markets.
  • Promote the company's capabilities in Aluminum, Titanium, and Stainless Steel open die forgings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact regarding quotations, pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, quality concerns, and technical requirements.
  • Review and coordinate customer Requests for Quote (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and purchase order requirements.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure customer requirements are accurately communicated and fulfilled.
  • Prepare and negotiate pricing proposals, long-term agreements, and commercial contracts.
  • Monitor customer forecasts and communicate demand requirements to internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct customer visits, presentations, business reviews, and facility tours.
  • Support customer audits, supplier assessments, and corrective action activities as required.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market opportunities to drive business growth.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, customer records, and activity reports.
  • Represent American Handforge at trade shows, conferences, and customer events.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, AS9100 standards, and company policies and procedures.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives and key account development.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of open die forging processes and the manufacturing of Aluminum, Titanium, and Stainless Steel components.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing requirements and quality systems, including AS9100 standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build long-term customer partnerships and identify growth opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/CRM systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize a heavy work schedule.
  • Develop annual sales forecasts, budgets, and performance metrics to support company objectives.

Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of sales, account management, or business development experience in aerospace manufacturing, forging, metalworking, machining, or related industrial environments.
  • Experience selling forged products, metals, or custom manufacturing solutions preferred.
  • Experience working with aerospace OEMs, defense contractors, and Tier 1 suppliers preferred.
  • Proven experience in contract review, pricing negotiations, and customer relationship management.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $111,500. to $139,400. US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
