Position Summary
The Sales Manager - North America is responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing relationships with key luxury travel advisors, corporate accounts, leisure partners, group clients, and other strategic accounts throughout the North American market.
This is a full-time, on-site position at The Setai, Miami Beach. The successful candidate is expected to work from the hotel and be present on property as required by the Sales & Marketing department. This position is not eligible for remote or fully work-from-home employment.
The Sales Manager plays an important role in driving room revenue, occupancy, and overall hotel performance by identifying new business opportunities, strengthening existing partnerships, and representing The Setai, Miami Beach within the luxury hospitality and travel industry.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated sales professional with strong knowledge of the luxury hospitality market, an established network of North American clients and travel professionals, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for delivering personalized service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies for assigned North American markets to achieve or exceed annual revenue goals.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the luxury leisure, corporate, group, entertainment, and travel advisor segments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with high-value accounts, luxury travel advisors, consortia, agencies, tour operators, corporate clients, and industry partners.
- Conduct sales calls, client visits, presentations, property tours, and virtual meetings to promote The Setai.
- Proactively solicit new accounts and business opportunities through networking, prospecting, referrals, industry events, and market research.
- Maintain regular communication with key accounts and ensure strong account retention and growth.
- Develop account-specific action plans and monitor production against established goals.
- Promote the hotel's accommodations, restaurants, spa, events, and other amenities to maximize total revenue opportunities.
Account Management
- Manage a portfolio of assigned North American accounts and ensure consistent engagement throughout the year.
- Establish trusted relationships with decision-makers and key influencers.
- Understand client needs and preferences and provide tailored solutions that reflect The Setai's luxury positioning.
- Monitor account production, room nights, ADR, revenue, and booking patterns.
- Identify opportunities to increase account production and develop new sources of business.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of sales activities, account information, and future opportunities within the hotel's CRM system.
Luxury Travel & Industry Relations
- Develop strong relationships with luxury travel advisors, consortia, DMCs, tour operators, and other strategic travel partners.
- Represent The Setai at luxury travel trade shows, conferences, sales missions, client events, and networking opportunities.
- Participate in domestic sales trips and client appointments throughout North America as required.
- Coordinate and participate in familiarization trips, client events, hotel tours, and other promotional activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of luxury travel trends, competitive hotels, market conditions, and customer expectations.
Revenue & Strategy
- Work closely with Revenue Management and the Sales & Marketing team to identify opportunities to maximize revenue.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and business levels within assigned markets.
- Provide regular feedback regarding market conditions, customer demand, and competitive activity.
- Assist with developing annual sales plans, forecasts, budgets, and market strategies.
- Ensure sales efforts are aligned with the hotel's overall business objectives and luxury brand standards.
Internal Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Reservations, Revenue Management, Front Office, Events, Food & Beverage, Spa, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Communicate client preferences, special requests, and upcoming business to the appropriate hotel departments.
- Follow up with clients after their stay or event to obtain feedback and strengthen the relationship.
- Address client concerns professionally and coordinate appropriate resolutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hotel sales experience, preferably within a luxury or upscale hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of the North American luxury leisure and/or corporate travel market.
- Established relationships with luxury travel advisors, agencies, consortia, corporate accounts, and industry partners preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving sales goals and developing new business.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, networking, and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hotel CRM/sales systems.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically for sales calls, trade shows, client meetings, and industry events.
- Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with a luxury hospitality environment.
Work Environment & Travel
This is an on-site position based at The Setai, Miami Beach. The Sales Manager is expected to regularly work from the hotel and collaborate directly with the Sales & Marketing team and other hotel departments.
This position is not remote and does not offer a fully remote or work-from-home arrangement.
The position also requires regular domestic travel throughout North America for client meetings, sales calls, trade shows, conferences, sales missions, and other business-development activities.
