PURPOSE:
This role is responsible for developing complex new business opportunities within the Commercial Markets Division. This position represents the organization in acquisition strategy development, prospecting, network analytics, financial evaluation and negotiating with clients and brokers using consultative selling skills in order to grow new business and enhance profitability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Aggressively grow new business for ancillary products in the group market segment Ensure appropriate update of Sales strategy/sales activities documentation on a monthly basis. Accounts are more complex in nature.
  • Develop strong Broker relationships utilizing advanced strategic and consultative selling skills both in person and through electronic communication.
  • Provide documented formal training of assigned Brokers throughout the year including the use of virtual training technology where appropriate. Must be able to create and effectively conduct training presentations on all medical and ancillary products, as well as regulatory changes.
  • Management and coaching of assigned Brokers to ensure paperwork and enrollment process is followed correctly. Take appropriate action where necessary to ensure that distribution partners are following guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Licenses/Certifications Upon Hire Required:
  • Current health and life license for the jurisdictions of Maryland, DC, and Virginia.

Experience: 5 years sales/healthcare experience in a similar sales position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar sales position with a competitor or another Blue Cross Blue Shield plan is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge and understanding of CRM, Salesforce, and other client management tools. Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

Salary Range: $72,000 - $117,000

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position. Occasional walking or standing is required. The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects. The associate must frequently talk and hear. Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
