Position SummaryThe Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all safety functions on a job site to ensure a safe and compliant working environment. This position will handle daily safety operations, maintain compliance with applicable state and federal safety regulations, conduct inspections and training, and lead safety meetings to promote a proactive culture of safety. The Safety Manager will also be responsible for workers' compensation case management, loss prevention initiatives, and coordination with clients and regulatory agencies.
What You'll Do- Manage and implement all safety-related functions across assigned project sites
- Maintain and oversee workers' compensation case management and related documentation
- Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal regulations
- Facilitate safety meetings with project teams and clients to review incidents, preventive measures, and compliance updates
- Oversee the company's on-the-job drug and alcohol testing program
- Coordinate the Department of Transportation (DOT) safety compliance program and collaborate with state DOT representatives as required
- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and ensure proper communication of policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of incidents, inspections, and corrective actions
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to field supervisors and crew members on safety best practices
- Serve as a key resource for safety guidance, compliance, and emergency response planning
- Perform other safety-related duties as assigned to support project and company goals

What We're Looking For- 10+ years of heavy highway construction safety management experience
- 2+ years of aggregate safety training experience
- Bachelor's degree in a safety-related discipline preferred
- Strong leadership, prioritization, and organizational skills; detail-oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable equipment, policies, procedures, and safety standards for state and local compliance
- Field operations experience strongly preferred
- Must hold a valid driver's license and be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company pick-up truck or similar vehicle to work sites, offices, and other required locations
- Must be physically able to climb ladders and scaffolding and walk on uneven terrain throughout construction sites
- Dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented with a commitment to safety excellence
