Position at VSS International, Inc.

The Safety Manager will plan, direct, implement and oversee the company's Safety Program including development of jobsite environmental & safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy accident-free work environment. The Safety Manager will oversee all safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, County and local rules and regulations - including SDS and IIPP requirements for both field and office operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Safety Manager will need to remain current on all Federal, State, County and local safety regulations and keep management informed of new or revised regulations and their projected impact to the company.
  • The Safety Manager will make regular visits to construction and plant sites.
  • Safety Manager will provide support to project managers, foreman and the field team to ensure each construction and plant site is conducting operations in a safe manner for the protection of the employees, clients and subcontractors.
  • Schedules, facilitates and manages all safety and environmental related training.
  • Develop and implement jobsite/project specific safety plans and effectively communicate with project teams.
  • Manages facility response plans and ensures compliance
  • Review subcontractor pre-qualification documentation to ensure acceptable safety records and communicate with project managers and foreman.
  • Attend pre-construction safety meetings and develop pre-job hazard analysis to prepare for construction.
  • Reduce job hazards and ensure a safe working environment and identify unsafe conditions.
  • Administer company Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) and each project specific accident prevention plan.
  • Conduct accident, injury and unsafe work condition investigations.
  • Inspect multiple facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Data processing using windows, excel spreadsheets, payroll software, Vista Accounting Software, mainframes, and word processing software.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with concurrent deadlines.
  • Must be detail oriented and perform task accurately.
  • OSHA: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Certified Safety Professional (Preferred)
  • OSHA 30 (Preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred
  • Five years of related CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
