SAFETY MANAGER| GANA-A'YOO SUPPORT SERVICES

JOB OVERVIEW

Gana-A'Yoo Support Services is seeking a Safety Manager for SABER construction projects in Charleston, SC, pending contract award. The Site Safety and Health Officer will be responsible for overall management of the safety and occupational health program on assigned projects. The Safety Manager shall have the authority to act in all safety matters for assigned projects at all times, to perform safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement. This position will perform all work in a safe and professional manner.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections
  • Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report
  • Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports
  • Report mishaps and near misses
  • Use and maintain OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site for Prime Contractors and subcontractors, and make available to the Contracting Officer upon request
  • Post and maintain the Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin Board
  • Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site
  • Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings
  • Prepare the written site-specific APP, including plans within the APP (COVID-19 monitoring, confined space entry, lift/critical lift, FP&P, HECP, Excavation and Site Demolition)
  • Review the APP and AHAs for compliance with EM 385-1-1, and approve, sign, implement and enforce them
  • Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements
  • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings
  • Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors


ABOUT YOU
  • 5+ years of managing and inspecting construction projects
  • Current OSHA 30-hour certificate or equivalent within the last 5 years; and competent person status as required
  • Training, experience, and qualifications should meet the requirements of EM 385-1-1, section 1
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • Federal Construction/ DOD Experience Preferred
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; use reason when dealing with emotional topics
  • Proficient computer experience including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft project scheduling, RMS 3.0 (USACE contracts) required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as a team member for both in person and electronic communication
  • Detailed knowledge of commercial construction practices and Risk Management
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

LIFTING & CARRYING

This position is generally active, requiring routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Employee must maintain a constant state of mental alertness at all times.

MOBILITY

The employees will need to move around the office to attend meetings, access shared resources, and collaborate with team members.
