Safety & Loss Prevention Manager - Northern Region

Department: Risk Management
Reports To: Senior Director, Safety & Loss Prevention
Location: Duncan, SC, with regional facility support
Travel: Up to 50%

Position Summary

The Safety & Loss Prevention Manager - Northern Region leads safety, security, loss prevention, and compliance programs across warehouse, yard, distribution, and transportation operations. This role protects people, cargo, inventory, equipment, and facilities while driving risk reduction, operational discipline, and a proactive safety and security culture.

The position supports multi-site warehouses, docks, yards, transportation lanes, carrier operations, cross-border logistics, and 3PL partners through audits, inspections, investigations, corrective actions, and cargo-security controls.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Lead regional safety and loss prevention support for warehouse, dock, yard, and transportation operations.
  • Coach leaders on safety accountability, cargo security, risk mitigation, and security awareness.
  • Partner with Operations, Transportation, Dispatch, HR, Facilities, IT, Legal, customers, carriers, vendors, and 3PL partners.


Safety & Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance

  • Execute safety programs for warehouse, dock, yard, material handling, and transportation environments.
  • Support OSHA, DOT, EPA, AHJ, company, customer, carrier, and local compliance requirements.
  • Analyze injuries, near misses, PIT events, dock incidents, cargo exceptions, trailer incidents, audits, and inspections.
  • Conduct inspections, investigations, audits, and root cause analysis across warehouse, dock, yard, trailer, and transportation areas.


Loss Prevention, Security & Investigations

  • Lead programs to reduce theft, fraud, cargo loss, shrink, trailer tampering, unauthorized access, and security incidents.
  • Maintain physical security standards for warehouses, docks, yards, trailer parking, shipping/receiving, and restricted areas.
  • Investigate losses, theft, cargo incidents, inventory discrepancies, seal issues, trailer exceptions, and workplace concerns.
  • Partner with HR, Legal, Operations, and external partners on investigations, corrective actions, and security gap closure.


Supply Chain Security & Continuity

  • Lead CTPAT, cargo security, seal control, trailer inspections, yard security, gate controls, driver verification, and carrier compliance.
  • Develop continuity plans for warehouse disruptions, dock or yard emergencies, severe weather, power outages, cargo theft, route deviations, and border delays.
  • Strengthen route, yard, trailer, seal, cargo custody, and emerging-risk controls with carriers, customers, and 3PL partners.


Risk, Compliance, Reporting & Site Readiness

  • Establish risk and compliance processes for warehouse, yard, transportation, and 3PL operations.
  • Monitor regulatory, company, customer, insurance, and audit requirements to support compliance across teams.
  • Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for audit findings, incident trends, compliance gaps, and operational risks.
  • Manage dashboards, reports, audit evidence, site readiness, emergency response coordination, cargo-security metrics, and transportation risk follow-up.


Project & Program Management

  • Manage projects for warehouse safety, transportation security, physical security, compliance, facility support, and loss prevention.
  • Coordinate timelines, stakeholders, resources, risks, and deliverables.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.


Experience

  • 8+ years in Safety, Loss Prevention, Security, Risk Management, Supply Chain Operations, Warehouse Operations, Transportation, or related logistics environments.
  • 5+ years leading teams or programs in multi-site distribution, warehousing, transportation, yard operations, carrier management, or 3PL environments.
  • Experience with OSHA, DOT, EPA, AHJ, warehouse safety, transportation security, cargo claims, investigations, loss prevention, or CTPAT preferred.


Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 30, CSP, ASP, PSP, CPP, LPC, CFI, CTPAT Security Specialist, or Lean Six Sigma preferred.


Knowledge & Skills

  • OSHA safety programs, EHS compliance, DOT, EPA, AHJ, warehouse safety, dock safety, yard safety, supply chain security, and transportation security.
  • Safety inspections, including emergency exits, eyewash stations, sprinklers, racking, PITs, dock doors, dock plates, trailer restraints, housekeeping, and walking-working surfaces.
  • Risk assessment, investigations, root cause analysis, CAPA, audits, cargo-loss analysis, claims support, and corrective action verification.
  • Project management, data analysis, Microsoft Office, performance metrics, crisis management, and business continuity.
  • Safety management systems, warehouse management systems, transportation management systems, CCTV, access control, alarms, visitor management, and security technology platforms.
  • Leadership, communication, coaching, collaboration, and presentation skills.
