  • Lead the development and implementation of EHS vision, strategy, and metrics.

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Safety Chief Engineer - Level 4 to join our team in Promontory, UT.

This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

The Safety Chief Engineer (SCE) Level 4 is the definitive technical authority for all Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS), Sustainability and Security aspects on assigned programs. Ensures that EHS, Sustainability and Security contractual requirements are implemented through our systems and will engage across S&MA organizations and into other organizations to assure these contract requirements are met on time and within budget.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

In this job, you will:

  • Applies extensive technical expertise to the review, negotiation and flow down of Contractual deliverable requirements for the EHS, Sustainability and Security sections.
  • Applies technical expert level knowledge to the EHS, Sustainability and Security requirements for facilities and equipment proposals to support Program needs.
  • Facilitates information flow with the Program office and customer on EHS, Sustainability and Security topics. Includes Safety Board flow down, CARs, SCARs, Program Risk elements, Red Flag reports, etc.
  • Ensures resources across EHS, Sustainability and Security are provided when and where needed to support Program success.
  • Lead efforts to develop, communicate and implement the EHS vision, strategy, goals and metrics to help meet business and program objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 6 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 4 years of professional experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance
  • Prior Aerospace experience working with rocket motor design, manufacturing and/or quality.
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS, Sustainability and Security policies, procedures and processes.
  • Ability to craft solutions to meet program unique requirements while maintaining compliance to DoD4145, HOPS, etc.
  • Must have proven experience in effectively prioritizing competing and demanding priorities to satisfy EHS requirements.
  • Strong organization, planning, execution and budget management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with customers


PreferredQualifications:
  • Advanced STEM degree or MBA
  • Advanced level knowledge of HOPS and DoD 4145 compliance
  • Ability to get things done through others without directly supervising them

Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date. However, this timeline may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
