Full Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, programs, and protocols for personnel, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Lead all safety and compliance training: new hire orientation, defensive driving, CPR/First Aid, drug & alcohol awareness, equipment operation, emergency response.
  • Manage accident/incident investigations, root cause analysis, claims support, and corrective actions.
  • Supervise the performance of supervisors, trainers, and administrative staff; coach and reinforce safety/customer service expectations.
  • Conduct on-road driver evaluations, monitor performance, analyze safety data and trends to drive improvements.
  • Coordinate fleet and facility safety inspections, equipment maintenance, and safety equipment compliance (including SDS documentation).
  • Administer drug & alcohol programs, manage worker's compensation processes, and ensure adherence to regulations (DOT, FTA, OSHA, ADA, etc.).

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree (Education, Safety Management, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years progressive experience in safety management, preferably in transit or fleet operations, with supervisory responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of transit safety systems, policies, and regulations (DOT, FTA, OSHA, ADA, NLRA, FLSA, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in driver training and certified in CPR/First Aid and drug & alcohol awareness programs.
  • Strong analytical ability to evaluate accident trends and implement preventative measures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook; PowerPoint a plus) and safety management systems.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Estimated salary range: 80,000 to 90,000
