Summary

You will serve as the Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Quality and Compliance Department, Safety and Occupational Health Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

Help

  • You will coordinate all SMS activity including identification, tracking and implementation of objectives and targets among the various FRCSW Safe sites.
  • You will plan, schedule, manage and execute external registration audits, contractor supported audits and internal audits necessary to achieve and maintain conformance to the OHSAS standard.
  • You will provide training to all levels of management, staff and auditors including military.
  • You will demonstrate proper industrial work process and procedures.
  • You will evaluate novel and complex hard situations.
  • You will understand job hazards to report mishaps.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade level GS-11 or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1)Professional scientific knowledge in the effective evaluation for novel and complex hazard situation involving materials and equipment, and their relationships to personnel who much operate them: 2) Comprehensive knowledge of OSHSAS 18001 Safety Management System (SMS) and SMS auditing techniques; 3) Understanding of job hazards, risk analysis and other techniques on reported mishaps to determine frequency and severity rates of a major Fleet Readiness Center and subordinate activates which are, in turn, disseminated to commanding officers and civilians; 4) Experience in maintenance work processes and support equipment, industrial work processes, shop machinery design and material handling processes; 5) Working knowledge of industrial processes and procedures necessary to control hazards involving stationary machinery, toxic chemicals, flammables, explosives, hazardous materials, radioactive substances, electric shock., and other potentially harmful factors within the workplace.
