Full Job Description
  1. SCOPE OF POSITION

To plan, direct and coordinate the Maintenance functions at the Wilmington Plant. This includes but not limited to purchase, placement and removal of equipment, day to day operations. Responsible for safety and machine guarding programs, machine and equipment changes and modifications, asset management, AFE's, Maintenance budgets, facility environmental issues, plant layout and design, machine equipment and design and recordkeeping requirements. Assist in assuring HACCP, GMP's, Work Instructions, and Food Safety Quality system requirements (SQF) are in compliance.
  1. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Within the limits of applicable policies, procedures and established plans, he/she has authority to take action and make decisions. The assignment of work or delegation or responsibility does not relinquish responsibility for results. Performance will be measured by the extent to which the responsibilities have been fulfilled.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance department
  • Responsible for plant assets and maintenance budget
  • Planning, directing and coordinating machine and equipment repairs, PM's
  • Safety/environmental issues-projects, reporting to appropriate agencies
  • Machine/equipment design, modification, moving, relocating and storing
  • Communication with Maintenance Department/Purchasing, vendors, suppliers, contractors
  • Communication with Managers/Supervisors/HR for scheduling repairs and project work/status/updates
  • Other duties as assigned


Managerial Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise maintenance department associates: provide direction, conduct evaluations, provide/arrange for training, and provide input for hiring and termination.
  • Negotiation of prices with vendors.


  1. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Contractors and Consultants, as needed, for quotes/estimates, projects, information, repairs and direction
  • Vendors and suppliers as needed for parts and supplies
  • Government Agencies, as needed, for inspections, reports, issues and problems
  • Manufacturers as needed, for information, direction and assistance
  • Region General Manager as needed for reports, projects issues and problems
  • Facility Manager daily for reports, projects issues and problems
  • Production Managements daily for issues, problems and schedules
  • Supervisors as needed for issues, problems and schedules
  • Purchasing daily for parts, supplies, information and budget
  • Human Resources as needed, for staffing problems, policy and procedure


  1. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Regular use of computers and telephones
  • Must organize complex tasks and meet deadlines
  • Provide Supervision to Maintenance Department
  • Personal and product safety requirements for the plant include: hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes and hairnets.
  1. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling

  1. QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
  • Degree (4 year) in Engineering-Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing or
  • Eight (8) to Ten (10) years' experience in maintenance/engineering functions and responsibilities covering areas outlined in a multi-wall bag manufacturing operation.

Skills
  • Experience in plant layout, machinery/equipment design, budgets, major projects, relocations and preventative maintenance programs, CAD, electrical, electronics, programming, PLC and computer programing, advanced knowledge of computers and manufacturing systems, robotics and robotic control programming, and AFE's
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, safety and environmental issues
