Job Description
Rotor Dynamics Analyst - Help Power the Future of Clean Energy
Are you driven by complex technical challenges and excited by the idea of working with high-speed rotating machinery? Join our team as a Rotor Dynamics Analyst, where you'll play a key role in advancing the performance and reliability of gas centrifuge systems used in uranium enrichment-technology at the heart of America's clean-energy and national security initiatives.
In this hands-on, high-impact role, you'll support daily manufacturing operations while also contributing to cutting-edge engineering analysis, testing, and model development. If you thrive at the intersection of theory and real-world application, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while growing your expertise.
What You'll Do
• Provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing teams by analyzing operational and test data, diagnosing rotating-equipment issues, and assisting with rotor balancing activities.
• Perform rotordynamic analyses to assess system stability, predict critical speeds, and understand vibration behavior.
• Conduct dynamic testing-including experimental modal analysis (EMA) and vibration measurements-to validate and refine analytical models.
• Apply digital signal processing (DSP) techniques to high-speed data to support troubleshooting and performance optimization.
• Collaborate closely with operations and testing teams to design, automate, and continually improve rotor balancing and test procedures.
• Develop and maintain custom analysis and diagnostic tools, with opportunities to expand your software development skills (Python strongly preferred).
• Contribute expertise during technical design reviews and serve as a subject matter expert for rotordynamics and vibration analysis.
• Document your findings clearly and present insights to engineering and operations stakeholders.
What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in rotordynamics or related technical disciplines.
• Strong proficiency in:
- High-speed rotating machinery dynamics
- Vibration diagnostics and modal analysis
- Modeling and simulation of rotating systems
- Digital signal processing
- Software development (Python preferred)
- Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS or similar)
• Solid understanding of system dynamics and mechanical vibrations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
Preferred Qualifications • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with gas centrifuges or other high-speed rotating systems.
• Familiarity with test automation and data acquisition systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment.
