This job acts as a supervisor and provider of care at the point of care to individuals and cohorts of patients within a unit. Evaluates nursing interventions by coordinating, delegating and supervising care provided by the healthcare team of licensed nurses, registered nurses, and patient care technicians. Serves as a resource to staff for patient care assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursing interventions and facilitates problem resolution through collaboration with unit leadership and other supervisory staff. In collaboration with the immediate leader and other supervisory staff, identifies staff strengths and weaknesses and evaluating staff performance for team members within their span of control. Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities. Preferred - Bachelor's degree in nursing. Experience Required - 1 year of relevant experience as a registered nurse OR 2 years of experience as an LPN in an acute care setting. Preferred - 2 years of relevant experience as a registered nurse. Certifications Required - Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association. Job Duties 30 Provides direct, hands-on care for critically ill or injured patients in pre-and postoperative medical settings. 30 Assesses the risks and benefits of proposed medical interventions, rendering life-saving treatment in emergency situations. 30 Organizes, plans, supervises, and provides coordinated patient care within the unit. 30 Supervises, develops, and evaluates assigned departmental staff nurses and technicians. 30 Promotes the adoption of nursing protocols and clinical practice guidelines to support evidence-based practice. 30 Manages conflict on assigned shifts and collaborates with other supervisors and unit leadership if further action is needed. 30 Collaborates with patient quality, safety, and experience leadership and promotes patient quality, safety, and experience processes. 30 Supports daily clinical operations on the unit by ensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and appropriate clinical supplies and resources are available for patient care. 30 Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. 30 Performs other related duties as assigned.
