As a Forensic Nurse, you'll provide trauma-informed care to pediatric and adult patients. In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, you'll offer compassionate care, advocacy, and support while helping patients navigate their next steps.

We're willing to train the right candidate. You'll receive comprehensive education and mentorship, beginning with the adult patient population before progressing to pediatrics. *Onboarding is completed in house, immediately put on call, 3-6 months to get through orientation – must be able to do the training as needed, must be able to have a 7:00pm start time*
A caregiver in this position works full-time | 12:00pm - 9:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide enhanced follow-up services and resources, safety plans are discussed and implemented before the patient is discharged.
Perform speculum exams and/or pediatric assessments under the supervision of a LIP.
Utilize a thorough knowledge on collecting and managing forensic evidence with a Sexual Assault Exam Collection (SAEC) kit and a Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault kit (DFSA).
Interact and collaborate with medical and nursing staff, law enforcement, prosecutors, protective services, advocates, and other agencies as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Complete an IAFN approved SANE Adolescent/Adult course within 60 days of hire
Complete an IAFN approved SANE Pediatric course within 1 year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)
1 year recent RN work experience
*If in an ED, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
Trauma, Women’s Health, or Pediatric experience
Physical Requirements:
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
