Full Job Description
Weekly Working Hours: 36-hours/week full-time

Shift: 12-hour day/night rotations w/self-scheduling

Job Details & Qualifications:

The Progressive Cardiac Care Unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 32-bed unit, consisting of 20 telemetry, and 12 ICU step-down beds. The unit cares for highly acute cardiac medicine patients with diagnoses such as acute MI, cardiomyopathy, dysrhythmia, and heart failure. Treatments are primarily medical, but frequently include intervention in the Cardiac Cath & Electrophysiology lab, including stent placement, ablation, PPM/AICD implantation, Impella devices and TAVR's. Due to the chronicity of cardiac disease, the Registered Nurse will have the opportunity to form strong positive relationships due to the extended stays of many patients and their families. This unit is resourced a full-time "monitor watch" tech to assist in early detection of EKG changes and to alert staff of lethal rhythms. Staff on the floor will gain experience with vasoactive drip titration, Swann-Ganz catheters, LVADs, phlebotomy & IV insertion, ACLS, and palliative care.

  • 1 year recent high acuity stepdown or ICU experience preferred; minimum of 6-months ICU experience required
  • Associate's Degree in nursing (ADN) (Required)
  • BSN (preferred) and applicants w/an ADN in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a BSN program.

Salary Range: Minimum 39.64/hour - Maximum 61.45/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
