Job Summary

We are currently seeking a full time RN for the Neurosciences ICU at MGH. If you have experience working with neuro patients, this could be an opportunity for you.

BSN Preferred
Neuro and critical care experience are preferred, but candidates with experience in general acute care and demonstrating a strong interest in the neuroscience specialty will also be considered


Position Highlights:
*You will be caring for critically ill patients who have a variety of neurological diagnoses including stroke, brain hemorrhage, brain or back surgery, heal trauma or spinal cord injury
*22 bed unit, adult population
* work along-side a medical team in a challenging, fast-paced environment to build a professional practice and fulfilling career.
*unit-based research efforts are among the best in the world and have afforded us the ability to provide patients with bedside CT scans. Patients may require life support systems, including mechanical ventilation for unstable respiratory status and/or medication via continuous infusion to maintain cardiovascular status.

Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

Essential Functions
-Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
-Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
-Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
-Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
-Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
-Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.


Qualifications

Education
Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Registered Nurse RN - MA State License

Experience
Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
- Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
