Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital's Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 26-bed nursing unit that provides treatment to patients suffering from various medical problems, such as sepsis, altered mental status, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), stroke, and post-cardiac arrest hypothermia, as well as monitors patients requiring suicide and overdose monitoring. As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

37Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.
A caregiver in this role works a day/night rotation from 7:00 a.m. 6 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. 6 7:30 a.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
37Provide direct nursing care.
37Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
37Monitor, record, document and communicate patients conditions.
37Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
37Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
37Assess and coordinate patients discharge needs.
37Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
37Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
37Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
37Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
37*If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of hire
37One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
37Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
37Recent nursing graduate with an ICU practicum
37Nurse Assistant Extern (NAE)
37Inpatient clinical experience
Physical Requirements:
37Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
37Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
37Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
37Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
37Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
37Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
37Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
37Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
