Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Emergency Department Level I RN is a Registered Nurse who provides care to a diverse population of patients with perceived or actual physical/emotional alterations in health that are undiagnosed or require further intervention. Emphasis at this level is one learning and performing entry level nursing skills for patients who require episode, primary or acute care.

Required Qualifications:
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Current California Registered Nurse license
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Certification within 90 days of hire
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Membership in a professional organization
  • Six (6) months recent experience as an RN in an acute care facility
