Job Description
Job Title: Cath Lab Specialist
Profession: RN
Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8h day shift
Hours per Shift: 8 hours (0700-1630)
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Cath Lab, EP Study, and Structural Procedures
License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Compact
Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA)
Must-Have: NIHSS certification
Description:
Assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family.
Identifies and meets the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
Promotes the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process.
Acts in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
Demonstrates personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
Assesses the patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data.
Evaluates the patient's response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Develops and implements the patient plan of care and observes outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrates competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
Promotes, advocates, and collaborates to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
Provides patient/family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability.
Provides teaching and evaluates the effectiveness of teaching.
Recognizes the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient's preferences, values, and needs.
Delivers care with respect for cultural differences and the diversity of human experience.
Delegates to non-RN personnel in accordance with state board of nursing and hospital policy.
Effectively uses time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to provide high quality, cost-effective patient care.
Acts as a professional role model for staff by demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
Manages resources and patient flow through matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs.
Uses standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
Functions effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
Precepts/mentors new staff or nursing students as needed.
Seeks out learning opportunities and continuing education.
Seeks experiences that reflect current practice to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance.
Floating may be required to any location within sixty miles of the original assignment.
Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements in accordance with policy.
