Full Job Description
We are seeking a Database Administrator 2 to support a critical database migration initiative while also providing day-to-day operational support for enterprise SQL Server environments. This role will focus on migrating databases from an existing hosted platform to a new infrastructure, validating systems after migration, and ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of production databases. The ideal candidate will possess strong Microsoft SQL Server administration experience, hands-on backup and recovery expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in production environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support migration of existing databases from legacy hosted environments to new database platforms.
  • Validate database functionality, performance, and integrity following migration activities.
  • Administer, monitor, and maintain production Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Perform break-fix troubleshooting and incident response for database-related issues.
  • Manage database backups, restores, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Monitor database health, performance, and system availability.
  • Support SQL Max platform infrastructure dedicated to SQL Server workloads.
  • Execute database updates, maintenance activities, and performance optimization tasks.
  • Troubleshoot database performance, connectivity, and operational issues.
  • Assist with ongoing SQL migration projects and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Support databases running SQL Server versions ranging from:
    • SQL Server 2008
    • SQL Server 2012
    • SQL Server 2014
    • SQL Server 2016
    • SQL Server 2019
  • Maintain database security, access controls, and administrative standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support processes.
  • Collaborate with database teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable service delivery.


Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience administering and managing production databases.
  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration experience.
  • Experience supporting database migration and platform transition initiatives.
  • Experience with:
    • Database Backup and Recovery
    • Database Monitoring
    • Database Maintenance
    • Production Support
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience restoring and recovering production databases.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture and performance tuning.
  • Experience securing database environments and managing access controls.
  • Experience documenting processes, procedures, and technical configurations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within team environments.
  • Ability to interact with both technical teams and business stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with SQL Max hardware platforms or similar high-performance SQL environments.
  • Experience managing enterprise-scale SQL Server databases.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Database Administration.
  • Experience supporting database modernization and hardware migration projects.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and database high-availability solutions.
  • Experience managing end-of-life infrastructure replacement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring and performance management tools.
