In this role, you will perform technical analysis of malicious binaries using a variety of advanced static and dynamic methods. You won't just run automated sandboxes-you'll dive directly into code execution to determine exact malware functionality, unpack complex payloads, and uncover high-fidelity indicators of compromise (IOCs). The annual base salary range for this role is $180,000-$213,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills- Malware Reverse Engineering: Proven, hands-on experience performing reverse engineering on malicious binaries and unknown software payloads.
- Assembly & Low-Level Code: Solid technical proficiency with assembly languages and low-level program execution principles.
- Reverse Engineering Tooling: Hands-on experience with industry-standard static and dynamic analysis tools (e.g., IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja, or GDB).
- IOC Extraction: Demonstrated ability to isolate, extract, and document Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) across file systems, registry, and network traffic.
- Operating System Internals: Strong understanding of Windows or Linux operating system internals, process injection techniques, and system APIs.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or a related technical discipline, PLUS
7+ years of professional experience in reverse engineering, malware analysis, or vulnerability research OR
Master's Degree in a related field, PLUS
5+ years of specialized technical experience OR
High School Diploma / GED, PLUS
11+ years of relevant hands-on experience in reverse engineering and low-level code analysis in lieu of a degree.
Desired Skills- Signature Engineering: Practical experience crafting custom YARA rules or SNORT signatures based on reverse engineering findings.
- Scripting & Tooling: Proficiency in Python or C/C++ to develop custom disassembly plugins, automated unpackers, or protocol decoders.
- Network & PCAP Dissection: Ability to correlate binary execution behaviors with packet captures (PCAP) to reconstruct C2 channels.
- Dynamic Sandboxing: Familiarity with configuring, deploying, or customizing automated detonation sandboxes and memory analysis frameworks (e.g., Volatility).
