Full Job Description
We are looking for a Revenue Manager. The Revenue Manager will own day-to-day revenue recognition for HCE's service lines, ensuring accurate, well-documented application of ASC 606 across varied contract structures, deliverables, and legal entities. This role is equal parts technical accountant and business partner: the ideal candidate is comfortable digging into contract terms and performance obligations, but is just as comfortable sitting with a practice lead to translate that analysis into plain language.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the month-end and quarter-end revenue recognition close process across HCE's service lines and legal entities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Apply ASC 606 to new and amended contracts - identifying performance obligations, determining standalone selling price, and assessing timing (point-in-time vs. over-time) recognition.
  • Partner directly with practice leads across Technology Solutions, Growth Services, Data & Analytics, and consulting to understand deal structures, scope changes, and delivery milestones as they happen - not after the fact.
  • Maintain and refine internal revenue recognition policy documentation and deal-team guidance, ensuring consistent treatment across service lines and legal entities.
  • Analyze and explain deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and contract asset/liability balances; support DSO and AR aging analysis in partnership with the broader Finance team.
  • Review new and amended customer contracts (SOWs, Order Forms, MSAs) for revenue recognition implications, flagging non-standard terms early.
  • Support audit committee and external audit deliverables related to revenue, including preparation of audit-ready workpapers and responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Identify and drive process improvements in revenue recognition workflows, including opportunities for automation as HCE's systems (including NetSuite) evolve.
  • Prepare clear, non-technical summaries of revenue recognition judgments and their financial impact for leadership and board-level reporting, as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, with the majority of that experience concentrated in revenue recognition.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on expertise applying ASC 606 in a real-world setting, including performance obligation identification, variable consideration, and contract modifications.
  • Experience in a services-based business (professional services, SaaS, technology-enabled services, or similar), where revenue recognition requires judgment beyond simple product sales.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to follow up and follow through on open items without being prompted.
  • A genuine business partner mentality - comfortable proactively engaging non-finance stakeholders, asking clarifying questions, and building trust with operational leaders.
  • Advanced Excel skills; comfort working with ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical accounting concepts into plain, actionable language.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active CPA license (or actively pursuing/CPA-eligible).
  • Experience operating across multiple legal entities and/or in a post-merger or PE-backed environment.
  • Prior experience supporting external audits and working directly with external auditors.
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP revenue modules, and exposure to revenue automation initiatives.
  • Experience in the higher education, education services, or broader B2B services sector.

Success Factors:
  • Business partnership: builds credibility with practice leads quickly and becomes a trusted resource rather than a back-office function.
  • Ownership: drives issues to closure, proactively surfaces risks, and doesn't let open items languish.
  • Technical judgment: applies ASC 606 thoughtfully to new and ambiguous scenarios rather than defaulting to prior treatment.
  • Clarity: communicates complex revenue conclusions in a way that non-accountants can act on.

Key Benefits:
  • Opportunity to participate in building something important
  • Casual work environment in Cherry Creek
  • Experienced management team that enjoys the work - and loves education
  • Competitive salary
  • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance
  • 401K plan
  • Unlimited PTO policyWellness Program
  • Flexible work model
  • Community giving/volunteer program

Must be located in Denver, Colorado.

Salary Range: $110,000-$125,000
