The Retail Multi-Unit Director I for LAX International Airport provide operational leadership within a defined geographic section or zone generating up to $30M in revenue. This role supports the Senior Director or Director of Operations and ensures all retail stores within the assigned terminal, concourse, or zone maintain exceptional standards for cleanliness, staffing, operational readiness, and financial performance by holding management accountable for results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all stores are prepared for next-day operations by enforcing opening and closing procedures.

  • Support financial performance targets by monitoring sales, controlling expenses, and maximizing profitability across all zone stores.

  • Oversee planned maintenance and address repair needs promptly.

  • Schedule and manage leadership coverage across operating hours; make hiring, termination, and advancement decisions within the zone.

  • Ensure compliance with onboarding, training, and engagement initiatives; promote diversity and inclusion.

  • Analyze operational data to monitor performance and collaborate on strategic initiatives with senior leadership.

  • Manage inventory processes, including ordering, receiving, invoicing, and vendor communication; ensure compliance with planograms and visual merchandising standards.

  • Minimize inventory shrink through proper controls and procedures.

  • Ensure proficiency in retail systems such as POS, inventory management, and scheduling tools; maintain retail equipment and embrace new technologies.

  • Maintain brand standards and deliver exceptional customer experiences; implement marketing programs and promotional activities.

  • Resolve customer and associate issues using sound judgment; provide coaching and feedback to subordinate leaders.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety and health standards; train managers and staff on safety protocols.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of combined education and professional experience in retail operations.

  • At least 3 years in a leadership role supervising multi-unit retail operations.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field may substitute for 3 years of experience.

  • Strong knowledge of retail regulations, employment laws, and safety standards.


Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in retail technology platforms including POS systems, inventory management software, scheduling systems, and reporting tools.

  • Ability to analyze KPIs such as sales per square foot, inventory turnover, shrink rates, and customer conversion metrics.

  • Expertise in inventory management, planogram execution, and visual merchandising.
