SummaryRetrieves, analyzes and summarizes business, operations, customer and/or economic data in order to develop business intelligence, optimize effectiveness and/or predict business outcomes. Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns and prepares ongoing reports and data visualizations (e.g., charts, dashboards, heat maps) in order to support business decisions, inform generation resource selections, and ensure system reliability and adequacy. Presents results of analysis and recommended courses of action to executive management, the SRP Board, external stakeholders, and industry groups involving resource decisions valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Typically uses dedicated business intelligence applications and/or cloud services, but may also leverage the reporting capabilities of existing ERP, CRM and/or database software vendors.
What You'll Do- Leads SRP's mid-term production cost modeling efforts.
- Designs models to determine the future impact of solar curtailment, battery optimization, SRP's excess capacity position, retail natural gas volumes, SRP's gas fleet starts and hours planning, generation and transmission planning and others as needed.
- Familiar with stochastic and deterministic analysis methods techniques to predict outcomes and evaluate economic, operational, and statistical impacts of future business decisions.
- Develops strong internal relationships under SRP's Operational Readiness umbrella and is viewed as SRP's mid-term modeling expert.
- Conducts specialized analysis utilizing SRP's long-term production cost model and other advanced modeling tools that require a depth of expertise in resource planning and economic decision-making.
- Develops analysis methodologies that utilizes cutting edge and industry-leading techniques and theories and trains other team members on implementation.
- Proactively identifies and solves problems relating to resource adequacy, including SRP's involvement in emerging regional markets, regional transmission operators, and reliability sharing organizations.
- Works with internal stakeholders and external organizations to develop and maintain a breadth of industry knowledge necessary to ensure data management systems are in place to update model assumptions.
- Works with cross-disciplinary teams requiring a breadth of industry experience to solve complex multidisciplinary issues related to resource planning.
- Supports evaluation and planning of SRP's participation in regional programs to meet resource and reliability needs.
- Works with internal stakeholders to ensure data management systems are in place to update model assumptions weekly.
- Presents results in a clear concise manner that decision makers can act on with confidence.
- Trains less experienced employees in production cost modeling to build mid-term modeling expertise and bench strength.
EducationA bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is required.
ExperienceMinimum 10 years of relevant experience is required.
Hybrid WorkplaceSRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
