Full Job Description
Become a Resource Management Business Planning Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll manage resource planning activities to support Business Plans and the Maintenance and Inspection strategies as well as T&D objectives. The Manager develops the resource strategy and annual plans for all inspection, maintenance, and capital projects within SC&M. Oversees and monitors work activities and schedules to ensure optimal resource allocation across SC&M.

Monitor and assist with adherence to compliance standards for regulatory and internal policies and procedures. Lead and manage approximately 10 employees.

A day in the life

  • Directly manage a team (Advisors and Specialist) in developing and managing the annual and monthly SC&M workload plans (O&M and Capital) for SCE line organizations including - Maintenance, Test, and Construction Field Forces.
  • Build and strengthen working relationships with executing organizations across SC&M to provide visibility of near (and long) term resource requirements and workload; develop, deploy, enhance, and maintain work management tools/systems; identify business requirements; and recommend improvements on workflow and work execution.
  • Manage and provide reporting on workload progression and changes (Planed vs actual workload activities).
  • Work with organizational leaders and key stakeholders to manage/execute workload in a manner that supports staying within approved budget(s).
  • Advance technical tools and processes to support inter departmental reporting and metrics building.
  • Provide strategy, direction, coaching/mentoring, performance management, and salary administration for staff.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day resource planning efforts in collaboration with senior management, and other stakeholders; assess skills, expertise, and capacity requirements for various projects, programs, or operational activities; oversee resource plans that consider project timelines, budget constraints, and resource availability, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Oversee the acquisition of necessary resources, including equipment, technology, and materials; collaborate with procurement teams, vendors, and external partners to negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and ensure timely acquisition of resources.
  • Oversee the monitoring and tracking of resource utilization to ensure optimal use of available resources; analyze data, assess allocation efficiency, and identify opportunities for improvement; utilize advanced project management tools and resource management software to provide detailed insights to stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Manage the resolution of conflicts related to resource allocation. Lead discussions, negotiate compromises, and work with stakeholders to develop equitable solutions that align with organizational priorities and objectives.
  • Manage efforts to optimize resource allocation and enhance efficiency. Analyze resource utilization patterns, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements; implement resource management methodologies, tools, or systems to streamline processes, automate resource allocation, and elevate overall resource management effectiveness.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of combined experience performing or supervising resource management or business planning activities.
  • Experience utilizing businessoperations software and systems (for example: ERP systems, CRM systems).


Preferred Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Business or technical field such as Engineering or Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in project management.
  • Experience allocating resources to meet budget expectations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience working with enterprise systems of record (e.g., SAP, CMS, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated experience in effective resource allocation, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to provide direction to meet schedule and financial targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a safety conscious work environment.
  • Foster and maintain good working relationships with organizational stakeholders.
  • Work with key organizational stakeholders to establish or manage the processes required to establish or meet operational/organizational workload management goals.
  • Facilitate change and process improvement in change resistant environments.
  • Review and interpret analysis of data related to workload management activities and outcomes to support the development of strategic operational plans and budget management activities.


Additional Information

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
