Full Job Description
The Engineer will be tasked to work closely with our members and partners to develop and support delivery of our various research programs across Western Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will contribute to positive outcomes for resource road clients in one or more of the following areas:

  • Evaluation of innovative road subgrade construction techniques for unpaved roads;
  • Environmental impacts of forest road infrastructure;
  • Road maintenance management and life cycle costing;
  • General knowledge of bridge structures and geotechnical engineering;
  • Hydrological engineering, culvert sizing and design;
  • Road design and analysis of road geometry for heavy vehicle configurations; and
  • Foundation design for drainage structures on weak soils (e.g., designing with geosynthetics and soil stabilization).


QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in Civil or Forest Engineering; Master's degree would be an asset;
  • At least 3 years of relevant industry experience; and
  • Hold a licensed professional engineer certification (P.Eng.) or in process.


SKILLS

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently in the field, as required; with a capacity to lead and manage field studies;
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and project management skills; a strong team player; curious and focused on improving the forest industry;
  • Excellent communication skills; able to prepare quality technical reports and presentations;
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken);
  • Knowledge of road engineering programs (e.g., RoadEng, CAD) and GIS applications would be an asset;
  • Willingness to travel throughout Canada and work in the field, often in remote locations, up to 20% of the time; and have a valid driver's license; and
  • Be a courageous safety leader; adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.


Work location can be either Vancouver, BC or Edmonton, AB.
