Job DescriptionThe Research Strategic Projects Manager (RSPM) provides leadership for and manages projects that are directly aligned with the clinical strategic priorities such as Vision 2035 and its goals of growing our patient volumes, expanding our impact, and strengthening our position as the premier pediatric subspecialty healthcare system. In consultation with the VP Research Programs, identifies and prioritizes research projects that are most aligned with SHC clinical vision and goals. The RSPM plans, develops and oversees multidisciplinary bench to bedside projects and manages implementation of collaborative studies involving investigators from SHC, SCRI and affiliated institutions. The RSPM will manage timelines and spearhead all aspects cross-disciplinary collaboration including deep clinical phenotyping, cutting-edge data analytics and applications of AI. The RSPM will oversee and direct the Research Informatics team.
Responsibilities include:
- In consultation with the Vice President Research Programs, identifies and prioritizes research projects that are most aligned with SHC clinical goals to grow patient volumes.
- Ensures that membership of cross-disciplinary team has needed areas expertise to successfully achieve project aims
- Actively engages research teams to ensure communication between members and groups, providing support for different project components that include but are not limited to detailed clinical data, medical imaging, AI infrastructure and data analytics.
- Oversees and directs the Research Programs Informatics Team
- Expands the capabilities of the SHC Research Data Warehouse by incorporating AI and other tools to optimize clinical data accessibility.
- Ensures that research teams are in concurrence with federal regulations regarding non-fiscal compliance issues.
- Collaborates with Finance to ensure that projects stay within approved budgets

Translates clinical and research needs into scalable and analytics solutions to support project execution and strategic decision-making. The RSPM plans, develops and oversees multidisciplinary bench to bedside projects and manages implementation of collaborative studies involving investigators from SHC, SCRI and affiliated institutions. The RSPM manages timelines and spearheads all aspects of cross-disciplinary collaboration including deep clinical phenotyping, cutting-edge data analytics and applications of AI. Ensures that membership of cross-disciplinary team has needed areas expertise to successfully achieve project aims. Actively engages research teams to ensure communication between members and groups, support for different project components including but not limited to detailed clinical data, medical imaging, AI infrastructure and data analytics.
- Provides leadership for research informatics and data infrastructure activities.
- Directs, manages and oversees the Research Programs Informatics Team. Expands the capabilities of the SHC Research Data Warehouse (RDW) by incorporating AI and other tools to optimize clinical data accessibility. Works with SHC IS to ensure quality control of information flow into the back end of the RDW. Employs/develops cutting-edge data analytics tools to extract detailed and fine grain clinical phenotype data.
Management and Reporting:
- The RSPM assists in the development and implementation of aggressive plans to optimize SHC's resources, works closely with VP Research to provide consultation to the Clinical and Basic Research Committee and Joint Boards, as required, to keep the Committee and Joint Boards aware of high-priority research strategic projects. Ensures compliance with applicable federal, legal, and research regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Health Care, Biomedical Science or a related field
- 5 - 7 minimum years of experience in Clinical Research, Data Analytics
Preferred Qualifications:The pay range for this position is $107,702.40 - $161,574.40. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
