Job Summary

The UVEX Research Group in the Division of Physics, Mathematics & Astronomy is seeking a research scientist to develop and implement a test and screening facility for UV CMOS detectors. UVEX is a Caltech-led NASA mission focused on ultraviolet observations of the dynamic universe. The position is part of Caltech's Space Radiation Laboratory, which develops and operates science missions for NASA. SRL emphasizes a dynamic and collaborative work environment with opportunities for skill development and job growth.
Essential Job Duties
  • Develop and implement a test and screening facility for UV CMOS detectors for the UVEX mission.
  • Assist in the design of a calibration facility for the UVEX instrument module.
  • Develop novel low-noise CCD and CMOS devices.
  • Participation in the integration and test of the UVEX instrument module.
  • Analyze test data and perform astrophysics simulations for the UVEX mission.
Basic Qualifications
  • PhD in astrophysics or related field.
  • At least three years' experience with UV space hardware.
  • Experience with integration and test of UV space instrumentation.

Hiring Range

$79.7K - $145K per year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
