Overview

About the Role & Team
A suitable candidate will have operating and market knowledge of the datacenter facilities industry. This should include the facilities (buildouts, operations), critical non-IT infrastructure (cooling, power, racks, floor buildouts, physical security), and the service (hosting, colocation, wholesale datacenter leasing) aspects of leading datacenter owners/operators worldwide. The candidate must also have a strong awareness of IT infrastructure housed in datacenters (compute, storage, networking) and be strong in quantitative skills. The candidate should also possess strong narrative, written, and conversational skills. Client engagement is a must.

What You'll Do

  • Coverage of the datacenter market and industry (facilities, equipment, and services), including tracking of leading datacenter facility owners/operators
  • Quantitative modeling of datacenter-related metrics, including facility buildouts, floor space, racks, power and cooling, IT infrastructure, and environmental metrics such as carbon emissions/avoidance
  • Collaboration with other infrastructure and cloud services analysts to align the datacenter infrastructure and services datasets with other infrastructure-related datasets (e.g., cloud, IT infrastructure and AI Infrastructure)
  • Frequent written and social media coverage of datacenter-related happenings, news events, and vendors. Includes structured reports, blogs, and social media posts that draw attention back to the IDC's research
  • Speaking at events, presenting at webinars, and participating in vendor and end-user events as a subject matter expert


What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree (STEM degree is a plus, but not required)
  • Required 5-10 years of relevant work experience, including experience within the IT and/or the datacenter industry
  • Essential technical skills, including quantitative and qualitative (narrative) skills
  • Self-driven, taking initiatives, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities)
  • Percentage of travel required 35 - 50%
  • Desired work model: 100% Remote (need to be close to an international airport)
  • Ability for unrestricted ability to travel to the US for meetings and vendor events (possess a US Visa and/or be a Canadian citizen

Salary and incentive structures are determined through a rigorous process that considers experience, education, certifications, role-specific requirements, internal equity, and verified Canada market data from an independent third-party partner.

The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $100,000 CAD - $126,500 CAD, inclusive of base salary and variable compensation.
