Job SummaryThe Research Associate supports the implementation of research studies and externally funded projects under the supervision of the Research Director/Manager and an assigned mentor. Responsibilities include assisting with clinical trials, collecting and analyzing data, conducting literature reviews, maintaining research databases, and supporting study operations in accordance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
Under the guidance of a mentor, the Research Associate will develop research questions, assist with study design and data analysis, and present findings through written reports or presentations. The position will develop expertise in clinical research methods with a focus on surgical procedures and outcomes, particularly in cardiothoracic surgery. Additional responsibilities may include ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and supporting the integration of research activities into clinical care.
Essential Functions- Support Research to advance medical outcomes using Good Clinical Practice. Maintain deadlines and accuracy of the research methodology
- Plan procedures for experiment. Develop, adapt, and evaluate new experimental methods. Evaluates efficiency in performing studies. Incorporation of new modalities into routine processes.
- Provide direction and training to research staff when necessary. Minimization of errors and protocol deviation. Foster Teamwork.
- Design study protocols, questionnaires, data collection tools.
- Maintain source documents in accordance with hospital procedures.
- Assist with manuscript, abstract and grant writing. Prepare presentations and reports for funding agencies.
- Performs other related duties.
