Full Job Description
What You'll Be Doing

We’re seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate to join our Biotechnology Equity Research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medicine/science (PhD/MD a plus) with 2+ years of relevant experience (consulting, banking, equity research, etc.) and a strong understanding of the biotech industry/stocks.

What We're Looking For
  • Conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis of biotechnology companies, assessing pre-clinical/clinical data, scientific risk, and commercial/competitive dynamics
  • Lead diligence calls with physicians, scientists, and other external experts
  • Communicate/present ideas to Analyst and develop written product synthesizing research into an informed investment thesis  
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, including drug forecasts, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and discounted cash flow analysis
  • Monitor industry and macro trends impacting the sector
  • Clearly state and defend the Analyst's investment thesis and outlook for each of the stocks under coverage
  • Respond to basic questions from institutional sales and clients regarding covered companies, and industry questions and data requests
  • Some travel (up to 20%)

Education & Experience
  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline; PhD and/or MD preferred
  • Minimum Required: 2 to 4 years of relevant industry experience (consulting, banking, equity research) with a strong interest in the biotech industry

Compensation RangeSalary: USD $110,000.00/Yr. - USD $175,000.00/Yr. Actual salaries may vary, and may be based on several factors, including but not limited to each candidate’s qualifications, skills, and overall competencies for the position. The base salary is one component of Stifel’s overall compensation package for each individual employee.
