Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Cyber System Security Technical Lead to manage and oversee cybersecurity policies, risk assessments, and compliance across critical organizational systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the security posture of enterprise IT systems by identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating risks, and enforcing strict adherence to cybersecurity frameworks and federal mandates.

 

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with system security governance, risk management frameworks (RMF), and cloud security (AWS GovCloud), as well as leading the effort to gain ATO’s for IAM and Cloud. The position requires leadership skills in leading multi-disciplinary teams in high-stakes environments supporting federal agencies.

 

Location: Remote

Shift Schedule: 8am – 5pm Eastern Standard Time (EST)

 

What you will do:

 

  • Lead the ATO effort on a new IAM capability
  • Lead the ATO effort for cloud environments such as AWS.
  • Manage and verify cybersecurity policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies for on-site and networked systems.
  • Identify security threats, vulnerabilities, and risks; develop and oversee Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Analyze systems for compliance with mandated security controls, document non-compliance issues, and develop mitigation and impact statements.
  • Maintain continuous monitoring and update security attributes to ensure ongoing compliance with cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Verify that cybersecurity requirements are met for all phases of the Risk Management Framework.
  • Perform cost impact assessments related to cybersecurity risks.
  • Coordinate security assessments, audits, and reviews aligned with federal regulations and agency mandates.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate system security into Identity and Access Management (IAM) and cloud platforms.
  • Lead and support security engineering teams to implement best practices and adhere to security standards.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust level clearance
  • Bachelors Degree and 8 years of experience, or a High School diploma and 12 years of experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in Application Security.
  • Relevant security certifications such as Security+, CASP, CCISO, CISM, CISSP, CAP, etc.
  • AWS Security certification
  • Strong technical understanding of IT systems, Identity and Access Management, and AWS GovCloud security services.

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Experience working within federal IT environments supporting business-critical systems.
  • Familiarity with agile development processes and security integration.
  • Ability to develop and lead security training programs and workshops.
  • Experience with system security documentation, boundary documents, Authorization Levels (ALs), inherited controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to independently resolve complex technical security issues.
  • Expert knowledge of current technological advances in cybersecurity and computer engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of federal cybersecurity mandates and frameworks (OPM, DHS, NIST, Department of Education, Federal Student Aid).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks with strict deadlines in a large-scale, highly available environment.
  • Technical experience in Information Technology with a focus on system security.

 

Target Salary Range$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
