Essential Job Duties- Comply with all of Oxbow's Health & Safety Policies.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with all International Standards Organization (ISO) requirements applicable to the facility, including, but not limited to, compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and quality requirements.
- Maintain safety standards to ensure all employees and contractors are complying with Oxbow Calcining's policies to include, but not limited to: wearing proper personal protective equipment, maintaining housekeeping standards, reviewing and performing JSA's and JSOP's, confined space permits, hot work permits, lock-out tag-out procedures, and quarterly safety card compliance.
- Responsible for the maintenance and checking of safety devices, e.g., guards, pressure relief devices, safety systems, fire protection equipment, etc.
- Oversees the assignment of maintenance work orders and monitors the correction action.
- Instructs and supervises the supervisor to ensure that the maintenance personnel perform the necessary inspections, installations, and repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
- Advises personnel in other departments on matters relating to the safe and efficient functioning of plant equipment and facilities.
- Assist in the preparation of plant maintenance and capital project budgets.
- Develops, implements, and monitors programs to assure the efficient use of maintenance and contractor labor and material.
- Coordinates maintenance work with other departments to minimize overall cost of maintenance and to minimize downtime and delays.
- Initiates and carries out preventive maintenance schedules on equipment and facilities that would otherwise result in costly breakdown repairs.
- Consults with maintenance supervisor to ensure that needed spare parts are carried in the storeroom where such inventory would result in less downtime or more efficient maintenance.
- Requests supplies, spare parts, services per the Oxbow Procurement Policy giving sufficient details for ordering and adequate time for delivery.
- Develops plant maintenance procedures on new installations.
- Requests new and replacement parts or equipment that is of good quality and reliability and meets all federal, state, and Oxbow codes and specifications.
- Responds to employee suggestions or comments in a manner that will induce cooperative efforts.
- Observes and evaluates performance of the maintenance department personnel and initiates recommendations or disciplinary reports as necessary.
- Reviews, evaluates and advises plant manager on status of engineering projects for the plant.
- Performs or supervises special plant studies in support of plant projects.
- Coordinates and oversees maintenance projects performed by outside contractors.
- Monitors and controls the use of company-provided tools, equipment, and consumable items in the maintenance department.
- Ensures that the work areas, equipment, and work practices are in compliance with the regulatory codes, statues, and company requirements.
- Reports all injuries, regardless of seriousness, immediately to the plant manager.
- Advises the plant manager on matters relating to the improvement and the continued safe functioning of plant equipment and facilities.
- Assists in the development of written safety procedures prepared for job performed in the maintenance department.
- Ensures compliance with safety, personnel, timekeeping, payroll, attendance and other plant procedures or guidelines.
- Maintains communication with the plant manager on matters concerning daily activities and concerns.
- Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Supports management with special projects and workflow process improvements and other duties as assigned.
- Actively participate in plant health & safety processes, including safety committees, health & safety inspections, safety meetings/toolbox talks, job safety analysis (JSAs), incident/near miss investigations, and formal monthly safety training.

RequirementsRequired Education and Experience:- High school diploma / GED Equivalent / Technical School related to the field
- Five year to ten years of industrial maintenance and managerial experience. Basic experience in Microsoft Word.
- Basic experience in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering, industrial technology or related field preferred.
- Vocational training in related process.
- Experience in Microsoft Project
- 5S or lean manufacturing.
- Six Sigma certifications.
- Experience with GANTT charts, network diagrams and planning tools (libraries, slotting, etc.).
Physical Requirements:- Typically sits or stands for extended amount of time in front of a computer.
- Works in plant environment, which may include extreme working conditions and inclement weather conditions.
- As needed, lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, and in elevated work areas up to 160ft.
- Must be able to work with wrenches, pipe wrenches and other tools; requires turning and tightening nuts and bolts.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights of approximately 160ft.
- Must be able to pass general physically fit testing.
- Must be trained in the safety requirements at the facility.
- Ability to communicate or exchange effectively, either written or oral, with other employees in the plant as well as with outside auditors/examiners.
- Requires frequent/constant work in areas with moving, vibrating, rotating equipment.
- Personal Protective Equipment required for the job include eye protection, hearing protection, hardhat, appropriate gloves for the task, steel-toed boots, dust mask, and fall protection.
