Job Summary:

Responsible for Quality & Reliability Engineering activities that support the manufacturing of Teledyne FLIR's Cooled and Uncooled Camera Systems. As a member of a cross-functional team, you will also support activities with Systems Engineering, Customer Service, Production, Process/Manufacturing Engineering, Customers, Suppliers, and Executive Leadership.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to product development as a sustaining team member supporting Teledyne FLIR’s Cooled and Uncooled Camera Systems.

  • Conducts product and process qualification planning & testing, life testing and reporting for new designs and processes.

  • Responsible for fielded product failure analysis, corrective actions and reporting.

  • Facilitates supplier and component qualifications.

  • Coordinates containment and corrective actions for non-conforming material.

  • Leads regular quality status and improvement activities.

  • Generates quality procedures and work instructions, as needed.

  • Travels to suppliers, customers and/or outside labs, as needed.

Job Qualifications:

  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Necessary when establishing good working relationships with product teams.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Necessary when creating proposals and communicating in writing, in such a manner, that it is easy to understand and interpret what and why information is being communicated. Listens attentively without interrupting and/or being distracted by other things.

  • Strong Personal Initiative and Motivation: Vital to achieve desired performance results with projects that support the organization.

  • Strong Oral Communication and Presentation Skills: Essential when making oral and graphical presentations to capture the interest and involvement of the audience while developing and delivering a clear and concise message.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing using the English language.

  • Must be able to travel up to 10%.

  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.

  • Able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted.

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Engineering or Technical discipline required.

  • 2+ years working as a Quality, Reliability or Process/Manufacturing Engineer, preferably in the electro-mechanical field.

  • Six Sigma training and/or certification preferred.

  • Lean manufacturing knowledge preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience in the following is preferred –

    • Accelerated life testing methodology

    • IR or similar technology

    • ISO 9001:2015

    • AIAG APQP

    • Problem solving methodology and failure analysis tools

    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

    • SAP

    • Root cause analysis

    • Statistical process control

    • Measurement system analysis (Gauge R&R)

    • Supplier quality development

    • Optical and mechanical inspection skills

    • Electro-mechanical shaker systems and environmental chambers  

    • MS Office applications (must be proficient with Excel)

    • Statistical and reliability software applications

Salary Range:

$96,600.00-$128,800.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
