Job Description:

Reliability Engineer

Location: Mesa, Arizona / Hybrid as required

Employment Type: Full-time

The Reliability Engineer will develop and execute the reliability strategy for utility-scale inverter systems throughout the product lifecycle-from concept and design through qualification, production, field deployment, and ongoing product improvement. This role will establish reliability requirements and targets, translate customer and operational expectations into measurable reliability plans, and partner closely with electrical, mechanical, firmware, systems, manufacturing, quality, service, and supplier teams to ensure products achieve targeted availability, performance, and service-life objectives.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain product reliability plans covering design, qualification, production, field deployment, and end-of-life considerations.
  • Define and execute qualification, reliability demonstration, accelerated life, HALT/HASS, environmental, electrical, thermal, mechanical, and operational testing.
  • Create detailed reliability test plans, including test methods, sample sizes, stress levels, and pass/fail criteria.
  • Analyze laboratory, production, warranty, service, and field-return data to identify trends, recurring failure modes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead or support field-failure investigations, including failure containment, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Conduct Weibull analysis, life-data analysis, trend analysis, confidence/reliability calculations, and other statistical evaluations to characterize product performance and failure behavior.
  • Provide reliability input to product specifications, validation plans, manufacturing controls, service strategies, warranty planning, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in reliability engineering or a related discipline; master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of reliability engineering or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on expertise with accelerated life testing, accelerated stress testing, reliability demonstration testing, environmental testing, and other methods used to assess product life and robustness.
  • Experience analyzing field failures, warranty data, service records, test failures, and other product-performance information to identify failure mechanisms and corrective actions.
  • Experience with reliability and statistical analysis software such as ReliaSoft, Minitab, JMP, MATLAB, Python, R, or comparable tools.

Ideal candidates will have substantial reliability engineering experience supporting complex power electronics, utility-scale inverters, or comparable industrial products. They should be skilled in reliability planning, qualification testing, accelerated life testing, Weibull analysis, statistical methods, field-failure analysis, and reliability-growth programs.
